UTILITY BILLING CLERK

The City of Eatonton, Georgia is seeking experienced and qualified candidates for the position of Utility Billing Clerk.

This position is responsible for downloading meter information for automated meter reads and installs, processing meter reading data, preparing and mailing monthly utility bills, posting transactions to accounting system, processing work orders for utility disconnections, reconnections, and new applications, maintaining customer account files, gathering various reports and data, receiving telephone calls and citizen visits concerning utility billing and service, pursuing collection of delinquent utility accounts, preparing second notices, shut-off and turn-on orders, establishing and monitoring payment schedules, customer follow-up, and account research, preparing write-offs, and performing other duties as assigned.

Applicant must have a valid driver’s license, a High School diploma or GED, the ability to read, write, and comprehend complex written or oral directives, to translate those directives into operational plans, the ability to plan and prioritize work, to adjust those plans to meet time limitations.  Strong MS Office skills and computer proficiency preferred.  The person must be able to see, hear, talk, walk, stand, stoop, sit, carry packages and objects weighing up to 10 pounds. Selected applicant must agree to a criminal background check, pre-employment and periodic drug screenings, and to a probationary employment period.
