Job Description

This Respiratory Therapist position is a travel assignment located in Kodiak, Alaska, at a Level IV Trauma, Critical Access Hospital with 46 acute care and 22 long-term care beds. The role requires a minimum of one year of experience and involves providing respiratory care services to patients in an acute care setting. The position includes a guaranteed 70 hours bi-weekly, with the possibility of being called off for one 10-hour shift every two weeks. The facility provides housing and a rental vehicle for the duration of the assignment.

Location: Kodiak, Alaska, United States

Responsibilities:

- Providing respiratory care to patients in an acute care setting.
- Performing various respiratory therapy procedures and treatments.
- Collaborating with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Monitoring patient's respiratory status and making necessary adjustments to treatment plans.
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records.
- Adhering to all safety protocols and regulations.

Required Skills & Certifications:

- Current BLS certification.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license.
- Minimum one year of experience as a Respiratory Therapist (First-timers are accepted).
- Proficiency in all skills outlined in the unit-specific description.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

- Experience in a critical access hospital or Level IV trauma center.

Special Considerations:

- Weekend work is required.
- No on-call responsibilities are required.
- Clinicians will not float outside their scope.
- A block schedule is not accommodated.
- The facility provides housing (1-bedroom apartments) and a rental vehicle. Housing and vehicle are available 72 hours before and until 24 hours after the contract ends. Pets are not allowed. The vehicle is for use within a 30-mile radius of the facility. The traveler is responsible for cleaning the apartment and returning the vehicle with a full tank of gas. Additional costs apply for tire chains.
- Traveler's personal vehicle insurance must include rental car coverage.

Scheduling:

- 4 ten-hour day shifts per week.
- Guaranteed 70 hours per two weeks.
- One 10-hour shift may be called off per two-week period.
